Beyond...

Beyond the reach of all we think we know
Beyond the realms of space and time
I cast my mind and body out into the aether
And drift beyond material confine
I can see the divine
Rushing into me
Through the hole in my mind
Opening my eye
Within the walls of this, my sacred sanctuary
Without constraint of so-called sanity
I slip the bonds of earthly thought, of received wisdom
And weave a twisted vision of what shall come to be
Til all is dust
We dwell within our cage
Ash and rust
Burned legacy of final age
I can see the coming cataclysm
Through forbidden sight
The curse of Cassandra
Visited upon me night after night
Til all is dust
We dwell within our cage
Ash and rust
Burned legacy of final age
Til all is dust
Til all has crumbled away into nothing
Burned legacy of final age

Broken King

I see the future cold and grey, once green and gold
A hollow sky, a jaded eye cast over a desolate world
Howling defiance, centuries’ rage
Arisen from slumber, returned for the final age
I see the future you have made, it leaves me cold
Driven of endless hate
Inescapable fate
Awoken spirit, vengeful god of the old ways
Decaying would-be bringer of your end of days
Will you lay down your weapons, turn from your path?
Or has fate already declared what must come to pass?
I see no future; all is ablaze
Futile, vengeful crusade
Is it better to die on your feet than keep living enslaved?
Come soldier, rally to me
What forlorn hope of victory?
Raising my flag again
Ragged banner unfurled
Hail to the broken king
My curse: to make war on your world
The cracked awakening of a lost and damaged foe awaits, brooding in the wings
Fighting for a legacy with flames already doused
A frightened king lashes out, spewing hate and loss to all
What will now become of the lost and hungry ones?
A revenant lord in despair….
“Hail! Hail! Hail!”
Hate rages on
Light all but gone
No glorious renown
My burden; my … crown
